A day at the park

We headed to Riverfront Park to play today. Actually we went downtown just to watch the water over the falls, pretty incredible.

We walked down to the falls below the Monroe St sub-station...
Stopped and chatted with the marmots,

Headed over to the ducks and geese,
Then Mike & Will took a spin on the carousel,
We capped the day off with a little snack for the goat.

Baseball in the Rain!

Will's playing baseball so it must be raining... seriously do we get a summer this year?

Yes we sat in the rain for 2 1/2 hours watching Will's game last night. He owes us, bigtime! He had better take good care of us when we're 80.

Will had two singles this game, one of which would have been a double if there wasn't a runner in front of him. He also played center field, which is a good position for him I think. He has an awesome arm and is one of the only kids on the team who can throw the ball in from the outfield to home plate. Watch out Ichiro!!

Last night was also his pitching debut... we all know he has an incredible arm, just need to work on the accuracy a bit. He did really well, for his first time out, he threw quit a few strikes and his form is great. He did hit a batter though... we'll work on finding the strike zone a little more often.

Next game is tuesday 27th / 6pm @ Holmes Elementary. See you there.

Baseball night

It rained all day, must mean there is baseball game tonight... :) it actually cleared up right at game time and the weather was actually pretty nice, and by nice I just mean it didn't rain on us this time.
Will had a couple of really great hits, two triples and a double.

Will could have probablly stretched at least one of the triples into a homerun, but the kid in front of him was not as fast as he is. Will also doesn't like to stop running, he thinks that he can outrun every play, which he probably could.

The next game is Thursday, 6pm @ Meadowridge. Cross your fingers for some sun.

Newest member of the family

Max brought a new friend home today... I wish he would start asking before he brings company over.

And then Max killed his new friend. He is also mad at me now for burying his friend in the garbage.

Tech Trek 2008

Will walked in the Jefferson Elementary Tech Trek last week. So far this spring, this is the only event we have had, where the weather cooperated. It was awesome 85 and SUNNY! that may have actually been the best part of the day, first time we have seen the sun this year.

Will walked 24 laps. 6 miles! Not too bad... but he could have done so much better. His down fall was cheerleadering squad from LC. Will and his buddy Kyler spent a lot of time talking to the girls... A LOT!! They each had the girls sign their t-shirts and Will even managed to get phone numbers from 2 of the girls. I think it's pretty safe to say that if the cheerleaders weren't there Will could have easily done 40 laps. I shouldn't complain though... Mike and I had pledged to donate money per lap! I think we got off easy this year. Will did collect $245 this year for the school.

This is Will's buddy, Joesph, getting autographs from the LC girls

This is the back of Will's shirt. I noticed when we got home there are only about 6 names of his actual school buddies, the rest are from girls... too funny. He was really laying it on pretty thick.

This is Kyler, he was hitting on the girls too

Will thought he was pretty hot stuff, he walked with a few of the sixth grade boys for a while.

And here is what Will did best all afternoon... playing it cool with the ladies. He is the one towards the back holding the LC girls' pom poms and having the SAC cheerleader sign his t-shirt at the same time. His dad is soooo proud!

Baseball begins

Will's first baseball game was last week (I know it's taken me a while to update) Of course it was a beautiful sunny afternoon, perfect for game day. Oh... wait a minute, it wasn't at all. It was 60 degrees and rained the entire game. But it was fun!
Will batted 1.000 for the day :). His first at bat was a grand slam home-run. He also hit two singles and a double. Everyone played really well, especially this being their first game. I was a little slow getting my camera out, so no great shots this game, I'll do better next week.

And as always Caleb took a nap...

So even with the cold and the rain, we had a lot of fun watching the boys, it looks like they'll have a great season. Maybe we will even get some baseball weather too. but not this week, the forecast is for 65 and rain, on tuesday and thursday, game days.

Happy Mother's Day!

and what is the best way to celebrate mother's day?
A. breakfast in bed
B. a nice brunch
C. day at the spa with a bottle of wine
D. spending a cold and windy, sometimes rainy, day at a soccer field

If you picked D... you are wrong! that is not the best way to celebrate. That is exactly what we did anyway. Day 3 of the Wendle Tourney! Great game though, if you can manage to forget about the 50 degree temps, wind, rain and moments of hail. (Did I mention it is the middle of May)
It was the last game of the season, so of course we had to be there. Will had another hat trick today. :) His last goal was sooo cool, a rocket shot straight into the center of the net.
So the soccer season comes to a close... the boys were 6-2 on the the spring season. Great times were had by all. Can't wait until next year :)

Also... an update to the baseball schedule. The game on Thursday 05/15 will be rescheduled (TBA). The Jefferson Elementary Tech Trek is that afternoon and the boys will be busy walking the track after school. I'll let everyone know as soon as we get the new day and time.

Busy saturday

2nd day of the Wendle soccer tournament. The boys won their game last night 6-4, it was by far the best game they have played all season. Today... they played pretty well, but lost. Only their 2nd loss of the season. I think they'll bounce back for tomorrows game.

And yes Will is sporting a new do for the tournament... ROCKIN' THE 'HAWK!!

After soccer we headed to the Shock game.

So much fun, of course it always helps when they win. The Jung Kim's demo team performed during halftime. They were so cool to watch, it's hard to believe they are all younger than 16. Will keeps saying htat he wants to be on the demo team, he has to wait until he is 8 yrs old and a black belt. After watching them today though, he also needs to work on his nunchuk skills... WOW!

Another highlight of the night... Free Food!! Since the Shock scored 55 points everyone got a chalupas from Taco Bell... made Mike's whole evening. Final score tonight Shock 62- Boise 42.

This was also Caleb's first football game. He did great! I thought it may be a little rough, a three hour game can be pretty long... especially after being at Will's soccer game all afternoon. No problems though. He was awake the entire first half. He actually really enjoyed all of the lights and stuff. He fell asleep just after the start of the 2nd half and dozed pretty much the rest of the game. Looks like he'll get to go again next week.

Soccer schedule update

Just an update to next weeks tournament schedule...
Friday 6:15
Saturday 3:00
Sunday 1:00
All games will be at the South Complex.

Last weeks game was great, a real shootout, According to the boys they won 11-10. I think Will had one goal, but Tyler was on fire I believe he had five for the day. the dude was on fire!!

TKD Black Belt Test

Mike and Will went to a black belt test at the TaeKwonDo school. Two of Will's instructors were testing for their next level of belts. Mr Andrew received his 2nd degree and Mr Justin got his 4th degree. Master Kim was give his 7th degree belt. Will LOVED watching them test. He idolizes Andrew & Justin anyway so watching them test was great for him. It didn't hurt thay they each broke a ton of boards...

I just received the schedule for the wendle tournament next weekend...
Friday 05/09 ~ 6:15pm
Saturday 05/10 ~ 6:00pm
Sunday 05/11 ~ 1:00pm (Happy Mother's Day)
All of the tourney games will be at the South Complex

One more regular game, this coming Sat (05/03) 2pm at Hart field. See you there...

Boppy... fun for the whole family

TKD Test

Will had a TaeKwonDo test last night. He did awesome. He was testing for his red/black belt. Now only two more until he earns his black belt.

Will had to answer a question for his test: to choose on one the 11 commandments of TKD and explain why he thought it was important. He chose 'Respect your parents'. His answer was really great. "Because they love you and take care of you, they teach you things and take you places. They buy you things and they respect you too."

He also broke a board at the end of the test. This time he had to use on of the adult boards, much thicker than the boards he usually has to break. he used a spinning back hook kick. He was awesome!

And as for Caleb... into the action as usual. Until he fell asleep...
